The 2025 edition of Spring Fling – Scotland’s largest open studios weekend – sees around eighty studios throughout Dumfries & Galloway open their doors to the public so that artists can ‘meet and greet’ visitors in their workplaces and discuss and demonstrate their methods. They will also have a huge range of works in various media for sale.

The event is free and extends throughout Dumfries & Galloway – attracting thousands of visitors to meet artists and makers of every kind working in one of Scotland’s most beautiful rural regions.

Among the participants are internationally-renowned names such as the slipware potters Fitch and McAndrew – who recently had two pieces purchased and placed on immediate public display by the V&A.

Other high-profile artisans include glassmaker Amanda J Simmons, textile designer Morag Macpherson, landscape painter Angela Lawrence, and Daniel Lacey – maker of exquisite bespoke furniture created from storm-felled timber.

In all, the range encompasses painting, printmaking, jewellery, photography, furniture, glassmaking and ceramics, handmade chef knives, carved wooden mobiles, decorative metalwork, installation art, tapestry, costume and hats. The event is organised by Community Interest Company Upland CIC.
