Situated in beautiful Perth & Kinross, the arts centre Birnam Arts is showing Claire Hewitt: Stepping Into the Mythic, which examines phases of womanhood throughout cultures and generations through drawing, sculpture and storytelling. Claire has taken a series of symbolic stories passed through cultures and generations for centuries, and explores their narratives through drawing, sculpture and storytelling, with her own perspectives of grief and hope, and our own personal journeys. Fittingly, launch-day for the exhibition is 8th March – International Women’s Day.

A professional storyteller and artist living in Highland Perthshire, for forty years Claire has been involved in gathering and inspiring local communities’ connections to their natural environment, and to one another, through the arts, including through the ‘carrying stream’ of the oral tradition rooted in the Perthshire landscape.
