It’s Not Dead, It’s Just Resting at Scott Lawrie Gallery, Edinburgh responds to the current trend of TikTok-driven attention spans, institutional complacency and ‘alternative facts’, this exhibition brings together six artists who have turned inward for inspiration, but also in some cases have even gone a little dark in order to bring some much-needed light.
The line-up comprises UK-based artists Lisa Ivory, Steven Cox and Henry Rogers, whose work is pictured, the New Zealand ceramicist Virginia Leonard and the Australian painters Nicholas Ives and Benjamin Aitken. Leonard and Ives are showing in Scotland for the first time. Funny, quirky and thoughtful, these works represent ‘art as the cure’, giving us hope in a time of deep crisis in the arts.
